My Story
I’m Cherish Smith, LMHC, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in trauma-informed care, art therapy, and certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I have been practicing therapy since 2018 and hold a Master’s in Psychology: Marriage & Family Therapy & Art Therapy from Phillips Graduate University (2019). I provide individual therapy for adults in Tampa and online across Florida, helping clients manage trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, and grief while building coping skills, self-esteem, and personal growth.

I’m deeply passionate about helping individuals who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves begin to feel more grounded and in control again. I believe healing and recovery happens when you feel safe enough to explore your experiences at your own pace—and when your mind and body are both supported in the process.

My therapeutic approach is integrative and evidence-based, drawing from Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and somatic-based mindfulness. I also incorporate art therapy techniques to help clients process emotions, resolve internal conflicts, and explore personal challenges in ways that don’t always require words.

Whether you’re navigating long-standing trauma or current life stressors, my goal is to create a space where you feel seen, supported, and not alone in what you’re going through.
I have worked with diverse populations across community mental health centers, trauma recovery programs, and virtual therapy platforms. My clinical experience includes supporting adults with trauma, mood disorders, substance use, anxiety, grief, and relational challenges, as well as facilitating group and individual art therapy sessions for children, teens, and adults.

Outside of therapy, I’m an artist at heart, enjoying painting, creative projects, nature walks, yoga, golf, and spending time with my family. Creativity, mindfulness, and connection are not only personal values of mine, but also core elements I bring into the therapy space.
